Reflection on the target audience

My target audience are middle aged people. I have chosen middle aged people because as being a teenager I know what sort of films and music my parents like and enjoy as they are middle aged too. Also because my film genre is romcom, I thought using middle aged people as my target audience will be more fun because we can do many different things and put in many funny situations which will attract the audience and hence make my film look more authentic.

PLANNING : Permission letter

Dear Sir/Madam

I am currently a year 12 Media A level student from Queen Elizabeth’s Girls’ School Sixth Form, writing to you to ask for permission if you could kindly take part in my film as part of my coursework. This is for educational purposes only not for other uses.

Yours Sincerely

Nikita More

This is a template of the permission letter which I gave out to all the people who agreed to act in my film. I thought that this would be a polite and safe way to start off with my project and it also makes my work look much more organised.

PLANNING : Decisions about location/cast

Casting
For my casting, I was looking for a boy, a girl, and 1 extra person to act for me in my film. At first, I was finding it very difficult to find people who are willing to act but soon I got few people whom I knew. I asked some people at my work if they could help me. They all agreed and all were very excited to work with me in my film. This encouraged me and made me think of more interesting ideas on how to make my film much more entertaining and fun to watch.

Location
In my title sequence, I have decided to use Barnet as my location. This will make my film look more realistic and also, I know the area very well so it's an advantage for me to take few of my shots in Barnet. I have taken some pictures of Barnet high-street when I was deciding on my location and which location to use specifically.

PLANNING : Booking Equipment

Booking equipment is the most important thing when filming, therefore my teachers decided to have a meeting with all the students to see which equipments we wanted and on which days we needed them. The meeting helped me very hugely because then I could adjust my days of filming and get the correct amount of time which I had needed. I used a camera, SD card and a tripod to do my filming.

PLANNING : Script

For my script, I had to put a lot of thought into it because I had to think of an idea which would make people interested. Firstly, I thought of the story and then of my cast. After I had to think of the dialogues which would go perfectly with the scene and sound effectively in the situation. It is as following:

Storyline

4. Talking with the shopkeeper

15. He gives smile to her (over the shoulder)
16. Both keep talking (long-shot)
17. The shopkeeper talks (mid shot)
18. She smiles

Dialogues
4. "Good morning Monica" (Shopkeeper)
    "Good morning" (Monica)
5. "So, which books are you looking for today?" (Shopkeeper)
6. "Haha, you know my choice" (Monica)
7. "Oh yes, I always keep more books in that section for you" (Shopkeeper)
13. "An apology would be nice" (Jack)
14. "Oh, I am really sorry" (Monica)
15. "That's alright" (Jack)
16. "Hi, I am Monica" (Monica)
      "Jack" (Jack)

PLANNING : Initial Ideas

I had different ideas when first thinking about my film.

My first idea was:
A boy falls in love with a girl who just moved in front of his house. It was love at first sight. He makes friends with her only to find out that she loves someone else. The story then shows if he gets the girl or not.

My second idea was:

A girl who has everything. A perfect family and a great job. The only thing missing in her life is her love and therefore she is still searching for the true love of her life. She meets a boy in a shop and falls in love with him at the first sight. They become friends and their love story slowly begins.
