Top 5 Original Images

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.
These are the top 5 images of my artist which I took and from these I will be selecting the best ones for my digipak and advert.
I will be using the 3rd picture for my advert because its very symbolic and has deep connotations to it. The shadow reinforces his 2 faced mental health- one being normal but other being very ill and paranoid. Also, he is not looking in the camera which helps to attract the audiences sympathy for him and his health thus creating his brand image.
for my digipak, I have decided to use the 5th picture, again this one does not have direct mode of address in order to gain audience's sympathy.

DIGIPAK- Reflection on advert

1. What was the task?
The task was to create an advert poster for my music album. I had to keep in mind all the advert conventions in order to gain high marks and make my work seem authentic and professional!

2. What process did you go through to complete the task?
The whole task was to be completed on photoshop. I am glad I did my research on what an advert poster is and how it looks like. Below are some examples of my favourite ones.

3. What did you learn from the experience?
I really enjoyed doing this task as it was to be done on photoshop and I always love to work with photoshop because I take too many pictures everyday and edit them therefore having a task such as this was fun! Although, I had to research about various things such as all the elements that go into an advert e.g. Type of font for all the text, images of my artist and album, record label, reviews and, special features. Still it was a fun task and I enjoyed doing it.

DIGIPAK - Advert Poster

This was my first advert poster. I wanted the background to be very dark and something which matches with my genre therefore I choose dark woods but the quality of that background was very bad so I planned to change it. The artist picture was a screenshot from the video which again did not come very clearly and was blurry so I planned to take more images of my artist from my camera and uploaded new pictures which I used (down below) on my new advert poster. The font and colour of the title was gold/yellow and font was Stencil to give it a rural and victorian look which matches with the narrative and genre of my video. However, the title colour was not matching with the overall look of my advert so I changed it again. Moreover, I put a red colour for the date because I wanted to add in more colour and not just keep everything very dark and colourless.

Looking at my first advert, I decided to change the background to a dark colour therefore I choose grey/black which also matches with the clothing of my artist. I changed the font colour for every text and made it white so it does not look too busy but simple which can be very easy and clear to read for the audience. I used a picture of the artist taken from my camera which is much better than the screenshot as its very clear and the quality is very good compared to the last picture. I also chose this picture because its direct mode of address but the expressions do not look too attractive or eye catching for the audience therefore I decided to use another picture of my artist.

I changed the picture of my artist because the previous picture did not really had the correct expressions as I wanted from my artist therefore I choose this new picture in which he is not looking at the audience. This enhances his mental health being paranoid. Also, in this picture his eyes gets covered and we can see a reflection of his shadow on his hoody which reinforces the split personality which he has in the video (being normal and also paranoid), it may also reinforce the dichotomy he wants of being at rural location and more closer to nature rather than being at a busy place like an urban city. Thus, this picture helps to express much more about his personality as well as matching with the genre and the narrative of my music video. Ive put green background here to enhance the colour of nature and the story behind 'Golden Age' and this also helps to add in different colours along with being a contrast with his clothing colour.

I went back to the same background as before to give it a more dark and sinister look as I think this looks more better than the green background and this was also suggested by the feedback from focus-group and also from my teacher therefore I went back to the black/grey background. Due to the change of background colour i also had to change the font colour. I then decided to keep the same font colour for every text and to keep it nice and simple I went with white as this gives a contrast to the overall dark look and also makes my advert poster look neat and tidy and much more organised.

Here I changed the font of my artist's name because when I was researching I looked at many different CD album covers and posters and in there they all had different fonts for the title and the name of the artist therefore I changed the font for his name to give it a more authentic look. Overall, I am very satisfied with my advert poster as I have tried my best to make it look professional in every way. The picture of my artist is nice and clear and it works in a symbolic way to convey the genre and narrative of my music video. The fonts also reflect the 'Golden Age' genre as they provide a victorian look and the name of the artist has a contemporary look which shows that he is being introduced to the modern audiences. This is further expanded by showing that it is available on iTunes because nowadays everyone relies on technology especially for music and videos.  The production company 'Universal' shows that it is for everyone worldwide as most of their products are therefore anyone can see it.   Moreover, I have used OK magazine and their comment to attract my audiences because just like the OK magazine, my video targets every adult (18plus) because anyone can be going through being a paranoid therefore its mainly for people who are weak and depressed and want to find enlightenment in something where they eventually will find their hope and peace. The 5 stars help to encourage my audience to buy this product. And the bar scanner providing a copyright on this product for safely reasons which enhances its authenticity. Therefore, overall I have included everything to make my advert poster look professional and I am very happy with its final look!

DIGIPAK - CD Net (Front Cover)

At first I came up with this front cover however the background was no matching at all and it really wast looking professional in any way so I was suggested by my teacher to do a bit more research into my genre to get a specific background.

I was struggling a lot to find a proper background for my front cover of the CD album and did some research which can also match with my video. Then I thought of putting a background which young people are more into and which can also be reflected on the state of being paranoid. I found this picture where young boys are standing with a graffiti background and I thought of using something similar to this.
I then decided to put a background which has graffiti on it which can help to reflect upon his mental state of being a paranoid and also helps to attract my target audience (18+). I have put a black banner on the top deliberately for the title to be seen clearly. The font for the title and the artist name are both different than the previous one because according to my research its different in every album cover. I have given it green and slightly yellow colour because then it can match with the narrative of my music video of representing his relationship with the nature.
However, after doing a peer assessment with my classmates Natalie and Elisia I had to change the position of my artist's name because they suggested that its better to put it together close to the title or else the titles name will make it seem as if I am trying to sell my artist rather than the album itself. Therefore, after taking their advice into consideration I changed the position of my artist's name and moved it to the top close to the Title and due to the different fonts my audience will recognise the title of the album along with the artist's name.
I changed the picture of my artist because the previous picture was taken from my music video which had poor quality and clarity thus I took new pictures in my camera and uploaded them on the desktop in order to use it for my CD's front cover and also for my advert poster. This picture is very clear and is much better to see. Also, the direct mode of address helps to engage with the audiences more.
I again changed my picture because my teacher suggested that his expressions do not seem very appealing for the audience in order for them to buy my music album. I wanted to keep that serious look on my artist's face because that is how he is presented throughout my music video. However, I changed my picture but kept that serious look on my artist.
I then decided to change the fonts for both the title along with the artist's name because the previous fonts seemed very similar to me which did not look professional. I also changed the colour of my fonts because white seems more neat and clear in contrast with the black and it also then matches with how my advert poster is because on the advert poster all of my texts are in white.
Finally, I decided to use the last picture as my front cover for my CD album and I feel very satisfied with what I have produced because after all the research and changes I made I realised how to improve my front cover and on every stage I got the chance to learn something new about the music video industry along with photoshopping.

DIGIPAK - Reflection on digipak

1. What was the task?
The task was to create a digipak (CD album cover) for the music video which I produced. We also had to make a advert poster including the title of the album along with the artist name and their picture.

2. What process did you go through to complete the task?
We had to do everything via photoshop and at the start a photoshop tutorial was arranged for my class which was very helpful, in terms of learning more about all its features and producing a professional looking digipak.

3. What did you learn from the experience? (photoshop)
By looking at the vast amount of features which photoshop has it made me to become more creative and think out of the box in order to create a perfect and thoughtful CD album cover and the advert poster. This also made me to see how people work in the real music industry and how their pictures are edited on photoshop which make them look more glamorous or very dark and eerie depending on their music album. Therefore, when working on photoshop to create a professional looking album cover and advert poster, it gave me a deeper insight in how the music industry works and how editing and photoshop is done.

RESEARCH - Favourite music video and why?

Bruno Mars - just the way you are

There are many reasons why this is one of my favourite music videos -
1. I love Bruno Mars because he is very talented and his music rocks
2. The music itself is very rhythmic, has lots of beats and anyone can hear this song and just start enjoying it.
3. It hasn't got a very deep narrative which is why this video is even more attractive for me because even in simple ways Bruno has made this song very interesting and eye hatching to watch.

Beyoncé - countdown
Countdown is the way song I can hear or watch anytime. It's fun and full of enjoyment. It's colourful it's eyecatching to watch due to its transitions and multiple locations, mise en scene which makes the whole video very vibrant to watch and enjoy.
